We need to take care of the staff that take care of our students.
It’s as simple as that.

 

Accomplishments

  • Co-hosted numerous trustee listening session for 100+ teachers to share their concerns during this very difficult school year

  • Proposed and passed an accountability tool that holds the superintendent accountable for reducing teacher vacancies at lower-income schools

  • Successfully pressured the administration to keep paid holidays for bus drivers


Looking Ahead

  1. Make Austin ISD one of the best places to work in Central Texas

  2. Establish a culture where teachers and staff feel their voice matters

  3. Hold a new superintendent accountable for increasing teacher and staff compensation and morale, which is at an all-time low

  4. Establish a 10-year compensation plan for staff to allow for effective recruitment and retention

  5. Revise teacher evaluation systems to be valid, reliable, and helpful to teachers

  6. Increase the number of Black and Asian staff, who are underrepresented, in Austin ISD
